How we work.
Useful reporting starts with a clear question and ends with an answer the evidence can support.
Sources and attribution
We prefer original reporting, official records and direct public statements where they answer the question. An official source can establish its own announcement; its claims still need context. Multiple articles repeating one report are not independent confirmation.
Articles link to the sources behind material claims. We credit other journalists for their original reporting and identify participant recollections, disputed accounts and translated paraphrases. We do not invent quotes or sources.
News and analysis
We distinguish confirmed developments from proposals, negotiations, opinion and speculation. Analysis explains the evidence and its limits. Historical examples illustrate a point without becoming a statistical claim about every fight.
AI and editorial responsibility
AI tools support our editorial workflow. Source material is checked against a draft, and automated checks cover article structure, attribution, image records and publication versions. These checks can fail, and model agreement alone is not proof that a claim is true.
We publish under the editorial desk byline unless a real contributor is identified. We do not create fictional journalists or imply firsthand reporting that did not happen.
Photography and illustrations
Photo captions identify the subject and context. Image credits link to the original source and license where applicable. An illustrative photograph is not presented as an image of the specific event being discussed. Material edits and generated illustrations are identified.
Updates and corrections
A later development and a factual correction are different. Substantive updates receive an updated date. Material factual corrections receive a visible note explaining what changed. We may temporarily withdraw an article while checking a serious issue.
Use our contact and corrections page to bring an error or image-rights concern to our attention.
Commercial independence
Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate relationships, when used, are identified. They do not determine our conclusions or give a sponsor approval of ordinary editorial coverage.
